Acting Under Secretary Michael Kratsios signed the DoD International S&T Engagement Strategy, which supports the 2018 National Defense Strategy (NDS) directive to strengthen alliances and attract new partners. The strategy codifies the role that research and engineering (R&E) plays in coordinating the Department’s international S&T engagement. The strategy represents a two-year effort by the International Outreach and Policy (IO&P) team to build upon insights and feedback from the international staffs of the R&E components, U.S. military services, S&T advisors at the combatant commands, and laboratories and agencies that comprise the DoD S&T enterprise. The strategy seeks to provide a framework that the Department will use in pursuing international S&T cooperation.
