Russell Austin is a senior engineer at Texas Research Institute/Austin, focusing on nondestructive inspection technology development and condition-based maintenance. His background includes low-frequency ultrasonics/acoustic emission to detect and locate damage in large structures, microwave/millimeter-wave inspection of thick and/or lossy polymer materials, and development of miniature embedded structural health monitors. He started his career operating the infrared thermography laboratory at Argonne National Laboratory. He has a B.S. in materials engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology.
