Are there compact lightweight high-performance heavy fuel engines suitable for special operations use in light tactical all terrain vehicles (ATVs)?

DSIAC first discussed required performance considerations and size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements with the inquirer.  Based on these, DSIAC subject matter experts in the areas of small vehicle platforms and engines surveyed open sources for existing diesel engines that might be suitable.  We then met with several OEMs for ATVs to discuss development efforts underway for high-performance heavy- and multi-fuel engines for ATVs.  Finally, we surveyed current and developmental efforts for high-performance heavy fuel based motorcycle engines that might be suitable for use in ATVs.  A summary of the information was provided to the requestor.
