What past or ongoing research has been done on CFRP SRM cases for tactical applications?

DSIAC was tasked with compiling research and points of contact related to high-temperature-capable solid rocket motor (SRM) cases for tactical applications.  DSIAC performed searches of the Defense Technical Information Center Research & Engineering Gateway, Joint Army Navy NASA Air Force database, and open sources for relevant publications and articles.  DSIAC also contacted subject matter experts at the U.S. Army Futures Command Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC), NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Texas Research Institute Austin, and the Johns Hopkins University Energetics Research Group (JHU ERG) for contacts and reports relating to the inquiry.  A brief history of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) SRM cases, more recent materials and projects, and expert SME contacts was delivered to the inquirer.
