What examples exist of public-private partnerships to develop and qualify additive manufacturing (AM) materials databases?

DSIAC was asked to investigate cases of public-private partnerships of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and industry to develop and qualify material property databases for AM materials. Of particular interest was the partnership of the National Center for Advanced Materials Performance (NCAMP) and Stratasys to develop a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-approved profile of ULTEMTM 9085. DSIAC contacted the program manager at NCAMP for more information on the progress of the testing and inquired when the report will be released. Other partnerships, made possible by America Makes, resulting in the development of AM databases, were also investigated and consolidated. Information to contact NCAMP for more details on the ULTEM 9085 developments and summaries of a select few America Makes projects were included in the draft report.
