What is needed to domestically manufacture small arms weapon systems?

DSIAC staff assisted in researching and providing standards and requirements related to reverse engineering, development of Technical Data Packages, and manufacturing to be used as part of a Small Business Innovative Research package soliciting domestic manufacturing options for certain small arms threat systems.  This was the culmination of previous DSIAC research to provide an assessment of potential U.S. small and large business capabilities in this area.  The prior research assessed the technical effort required to implement the reverse engineering and manufacturing process as well as associated risk, costs, and cost break points for quantity production.
