Language in the House Armed Services Committee FY18 Appropriations budget bill calls for DoD to assess current status and steps to address gaps in advanced materials, composites and manufacturing processes that will contribute to superior military performance, sustainment, and readiness across many applications, including air vehicles of all types, armor, munitions, prosthetics, batteries.  Recommendations to improve the talent pipeline in the advanced materials workforce are also sought.  To address this study request, the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research & Engineering) is soliciting inputs from commercial and defense industry sectors and academia through this Federal Business Opportunities link:  https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&tab=core&id=5aa26eb8f695084695b324159edeaec4&_cview=1.
