Electric seems to be all the rage in pavement pounding cars these days, but what about electric power for the dirt? There as been very little, if any, development in that space, and the Nikola Moto Company is looking to change that with their Nikola Zero electric-powered UTV. We love the sound of a small motor pegging the rev limiter as we slide it around the dunes, but the specs that Nikola has for their new UTV has us wanting to go for a ride. This four-passenger UTV gets its momentum from 400V AC motors that put out 520 hp, and with a 50 kWh battery can cover a 150 miles, it has the range to play. Horsepower isn’t the only benefit of this set up, the instant torque can launch this UTV from 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds and puts down a whopping 476 lb-ft of peak torque. Since it’s eclectic and the motor and gearbox are waterproof, it can cross deep water without the risk of hydro-locking the motor.
