How is a SM-2 Block IV/SM-3 missile integrated inside the MK-15 and MK-21 launch canister?

Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) subject matter expert (SME) personnel responded to a request for research to provide technical information and documentation for various missile systems. Literature searches were conducted on both DTIC’s public and restricted release databases for applicable technical data associated with the following:

  1. MK-15 and MK-21 Launch Canisters for the MK-41 Vertical Launching System (VLS)
  2. Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control System (TTWCS)
  3. Drawings/Diagram of the integrated Harpoon Missile in the MK-141 Launcher
  4. Drawings/Diagram of the integrated SM-2 Block IV and/or SM-3 in the MK-21 canister

Technical references were obtained for the VLS launch canisters, the TTWCS and the integrated Harpoon missile in the MK-141 launcher. Drawings/diagrams for the Harpoon and SM-2, Blk IV/SM-3 missile configurations were not located for release, but information on the Program Executive Office (PEO) to contact was supplied.
