Is it possible that the future of information gathering will be up to robotic insects?
DSIAC was asked to track down technical publications regarding tiny, insect robots with an emphasis on the means of control and communication among swarms of unmanned autonomous systems, as well as organizations supporting such work. Research in both the private sector and academia, focusing on both the construction of miniature robots and control of individuals and swarms, was summarized for the inquirer. This includes research performed by groups at the Naval Postgraduate School, Cornell University, Harvard University, and University of Pennsylvania, as well as other relevant Department of Defense organizations.
